Spy Phone Definitions
Operating system
The four most commonly found operating systems on modern handphones are:
- Symbian 8
- Symbian 9
- Windows
- Blackberry
To know which spyphone software will work on your handphone you will need to now which operating system your handphone uses. Either check you owners manual or online guides to see what operating system your handphone uses and then refer to the matrix table below to see which products will work on your particular handphone.
SMS/text messaging
SMS stands for short message service. SMS is also often referred to as texting, or text messaging. The service allows for short text messages to be sent from one cell handphone to another, or from the internet to a handphone.
Address book
The address book is the database in your phone where you store your most frequently called numbers and comprises the name, telephone number, and other contact details of your friends, colleges and contacts.
Browser URL
A browser URL (uniform resource locator ) is the address you enter in the menu bar of a website you wish to visit.
Call intercept
Call interception is the ability to listen in to an active phone call on the target device much like the way party-lines operated in the past when individual phone numbers were scarce.
Cell ID
Every mobile phone network is comprised of a series of cells. Each cell has a unique identity that identifies the location of a handphone. Because cell coverage does not remain static, cell ID is only useful in giving an approximate location of a handphone to within about half a mile.
Environment monitoring
Is the ability to secretly switch on the target handphones microphone and listen in to the phone surroundings.
Event delivery
An event can be defined as a telephone call that is made or received, an SMS/text message that is sent or received, and email that is sent or received, a location report giving cell ID and/or GPS coordinates.
Event logging
Is the transmission of activities undertaken by the target handphone to either the monitoring handphone or an online repository. This can include SMS/text messages, voice calls, websites visited, emails, or locations.
Event selection
The ability to define what events you wish to be informed of.
GPS
GPS stands for global positioning system and uses satellites to identify the location of a GPS equipped handphone.
GPRS
GPRS stands for general packet radio service and is an always on private network for data that uses the existing GSM (global system for mobile communications) network to transmit and receive data to and from a GPRS mobile devices.
Monitoring device
Is the handphone you will use to control the settings on the handphone that you have installed the spyphone software on.
Target device
Is the handphone that you install the spyphone software on, ie, my cheating spouses handphone.
